Appearance as part of the space installation “RELAX” in MAK

On March 1, Cantus Novus will sing as part of the space installation RELAX, created by Christoph Meier, Ute Müller, Robert Schwarz, and Lukas Stopczynski, in the MAK – Museum of Applied Arts Vienna.

The performance series will take place in the “RELAX Foyer” of the MAK Columns Hall. In fine-tuning with the artists of RELAX, a cappella choral works by Anton Bruckner, Josef Gabriel Rheinberger, Max Reger and Johann Sebastian Bach/ Knut Nystedt will relate to the spatial intervention and thus celebrate the festive farewell of RELAX. The choir will perform at various locations in the Pillar Hall between 18:45 and 19:30. By using their special acoustic quality as a sounding body, the CANTUS NOVUS WIEN wants the music to become a special sound experience in the space.

About RELAX: “Over the years Christoph Meier, Ute Müller, Robert Schwarz, and Lukas Stopczynski have been creating to-scale, site-specific variations on the legendary architectural icon the Loos American Bar (also known as the Kärntner Bar and the American Bar), in various locations and using a range of materials. The bar, designed by Adolf Loos in 1907/08, is located in Vienna’s 1st district, and measures only 27.36 m2. From episode to episode, the artists have broadened their repertoire of cross references and levels of abstraction pertaining to the Loos Bar’s interior, rendered almost infinitely expandable by its mirrored walls.”
